Chapter 4
Journey to Another World 4
Ch. 4
Once we'd gotten all of the items packed up, I got dressed and the five of us headed down to get some breakfast. Unfortunately that's were the next set of problems arose. It seemed that Undine truly believed that she was some sort of goddess and had to be treated as such, and she was very vocal about it.
"You call this your best Pokemon Chow recipe!?" She shouted at the still shocked nurse. It had been one shock to learn that my Milotic could talk, another entirely to be talked down by one. "If you call this your best food, then why not try some for yourself." Undine pushed the bowl over to the nurse with her tail and nodded to it.
Once we'd gotten downstairs, we headed strait for the café, as all five of our stomachs, (or six if you count how large Undine's was) started growling at us. So taking a booth, Jenavee sat next to a window with me next to her. Rena and Kit had taken the other side of the booth, effectively leaving Undine to sit/slither/lay on the floor. (Oh come on, do you really expect a 20 foot serpent to actually fit in a booth at a café?)
If this is what dealing with Udine was going to be like, I was going to need a lot more aspirin and in a greater strength. I slapped my forehead and then shook my head. "Undine...please don't do this." I said to her as I looked through my fingers at her.
"And why should I not? It says right here on the menu that this was their best food for Pokemon." By this point my headache had grown nearly into a migraine.
"What are you talking about Undine. This stuff tastes great." Jenavee said as she popped another piece into her mouth and chewed on it happily.
"Oh sure Jenavee. You just want to be satisfied by anything that comes along. But I wont be." She was about to turn back to the nurse when I saw Rena's paw start to shake, then she pounded her paws on the table.
"Oh would you shut-it. This is the first time you have ever even tried regular Pokemon food. So I would like to know how you think that they can do better when this is your first time having it." She got up and leaned down to the overgrown serpent but got no response. "Tell me! What exactly are you comparing this food with?"
"Oh you simpleton. I'm comparing it to the Poffins that Donovin made for me." This seemed to upset Rena to an even greater extent, especially being called a Simpleton.
I looked up to the nurse with a pained expression. "I am so sorry nurse Joy. I don't know what's gotten into my Milotic. So please, accept my deepest apologies." She slowly turned towards me and gave me a very stiff nod, then stomped off.
"Well...I...Never." The rest was lost as she passed through some doors at the back of the café. In all the Pokemon Centers I'd been in, I knew that it took quite a lot to upset a Nurse Joy, and Undine had done it in record time.
"Donovin? Are you alright?" I looked over and saw that Jenavee had a concerned look on her face.
"Before we leave town, we're going to need to stop off at the local PokeMart and pick up something for this headache of mine." I looked over and could see that Rena and Undine were still going at it. Head pressed against head, trying to push the other back. "And probably a lot of it." Unfortunately I would have been lucky if that was all I needed. Just before we were about to leave the town, I had to look up a rout for the nearest beach, get and make more Poffins for Undine since she insisted that that was the only thing that she would eat, and several more things for her coat. 'Well it's official. I have been made into Undine's official lap dog.'
Rena seemed to make it her person duty to try and find any way of pissing of princess, and princess would just tell her that she was, so lower class to her, that Rena was in a class lower than dirt. By the time that the day had finally ended, I couldn't move due to how much of a headache I had. So instead of pitching up the tent, starting dinner for all of us, and such, I just pulled out my sleeping bag, overdosed on headache pills, winced a few times at Rena's and Undine's bickering, and finally crawled into my sleeping bag.
"And what in the world do you think your doing Donovin. Have you forgotten about...MY...dinner!" She used her tail to flip me over a few times and proceeded to poke me quite hard with her tail. "You will get out of that bag right now, use that special wax on me, cook me a warm dinner of Poffins..." The list seemed to go on and on. It took her a good ten to twenty minutes to shoot off all the things that I needed to do to get her ready for bed. Now anyone that has a migraine will probably agree that when you've got one, that you have to be left alone, placed in a cold sound proof shelter, and have it kept as dark as possible.
"Undine what in the world do you think you are doing? Can you not see how much suffering Donovin is in?" Jenavee said in my defense as she stepped between me and her, while slapping her tail away from me.
"Jenavee is right. You have been nothing but a pain since you evolved. Plus what makes you think you deserve all this special treatment? By my reckoning, you should be receiving the worst food, worst bedding, the worst of everything between all of us."
"Oh is that so. Well I guess you have not heard but I am a goddess, and as such I expect, no, I demand to be treated like one." She used her tail fin to fan herself. "So that means that all of you should be doing my bidding. Even Donovin said..."
"Your, LIKE, an Undine. I didn't say that you were an Undine." I slowly removed myself from my sleeping bag, stood up on shaky legs, but was able to stagger around. Both Rena and Jenavee quickly leapt to my sides while Kit jumped in front of us and Undine. "Right now..." I grabbed at my head wincing as a burst of pain hit.
"Donovin, you need to rest."
"Jenavee is right. You look absolutely horrible."
"Well I guess I look as bad...Ouch...as I feel." I grabbed at my head and rubbed at a temple, then gave a weak laugh. "But Rena is right." I looked up at Undine. "You are a goddess in appearance...only. I think a better name for you would be, Urchin."
"Urchin! That is a horrible name. I will not be called by such a name. For my name means beauty/grace/and..."
I fell to my knees in pain as I started coughing again. 'Not again.' I thought as I could taste a little blood on my tongue. 'I thought that that blood was only a fluke. Guess not.' "There is an old saying, 'Beauty is only skin deep' and from what I behold, is not a thing of beauty as I once saw, but a..." I coughed again, spurting more blood into my hand.
"That is enough Donovin. We know what you mean. Rena help me get him back into his sleeping bag. He looks like he is starting to get really sick again." Rena gave her a quick nod and the two girls helped me back into my bag. Just then I heard Kit growl deeply in her throat and I could see Undine was advancing towards us. Both girls paid Undine and Kit no mind, but I could see Kit had fire licking up her muzzle. She was willing to start a fight with her for my sake.
"Oh? Do you really think a fire type has the least bit of a chance against a water type like myself. I will wipe the floor with..."
"What about a electric type?"
"Or a very pissed off fighting type." Rena and Jenavee took up positions on either side of Kit after I was safely inside the sleeping bag. I was about to comment about something but then everything started to go dark and I passed out.
When I awoke next, it was to a smile. All three of my lovely girls were sitting around a fire chatting with each other. By how dark it was, the sun must have set some time ago. I looked back at my girls and smiled. It had been so long since our little group had been around a fire like this that it warmed my heart a bit. I shifted a little in my sleeping bag which caught the Rena's attention as her ear turned back towards me.
Rena looked over her shoulder, and smiled at me. "Looks like someone is finally up. How do you feel?" Rena asked.
"A little chilly. Who started the fire?" Kit smiled, padded over to me, and gave my face a small lick.
"You have Kit to thank for the fire, me for the food." She brought a bowl around that I hadn't seen before that smelt strongly of noodles. "And Rena for finally shutting up Undine."
"UNDINE!" I tried to sit up but Jenavee put a hand on my chest and gently pushed me back down.
"You should not get up yet. You have been through a lot today, and you looker than a sheet. Here, let me help you get something to eat." Jenavee scooted around and started spoon feeding me the noodles with a little of the warm broth that tasted like chicken. Once I'd finished most of it, I shook off another spoon and lay back.
"Where's Undine? I don't see her anywhere." I said as I looked around the campsite only to stop when I saw Rena smirk.
"Oh she is, around. But not, out, here."
"Huh?" I asked in confusion. I didn't understand until I saw Kit come over. She was pushing something with her nose, but stopped when she was a little ways away from me. She sat on her haunches, placed her paw on something round and rolled it to me. It was then that I realized what the round thing was. "You, recalled her?"
"Well sort of. It was to difficult to hit her with the beam. So Rena had to slow her down a bit by battling her." She looked over at Rena. "Though I still think you took that battle a little farther than you should have."
"What can I say. She needed to be shown why she does not deserve the treatment that Donovin has been giving her."
I couldn't help but smile at my three girls. "If I was feeling better. I would be spoiling you three right about now. Thanks" The girls gave me a smile then either a hug or a lick each. A little later the girl put the fire out, pitched the tent, and cleaned up the campsite. Once they were done they helped me into the tent and we all curled up together and fell into a fitful sleep.
Over the next few days I started to recover from whatever I got. The whole time I was constantly on the headache pills as the headache didn't seem to dissipate at all. So I didn't know how many miles or such we covered if any at all, and if anyone challenged us to a battle, it was either Rena or Jenavee that took over my role as coach/trainer to whoever took up the battle.
What I didn't realize was that we didn't even travel at all. The reason being, the girls were overly concerned that if I had a relapse they might have to take me back to Hearthome city and to the hospital. So we stayed at the East exit of the town, having battles and each of the girls getting stronger from said different battles. Though through all this, I felt like something was off. So it came to no real big shock when I saw a Ghastly floating with a Misdrevious.
'No wonder I haven't been able to get rid of this headache.' I thought to myself as I watched the two float off, but was shocked when the little ghost stopped following the Misdrevious and looked strait down at me. It floated there for a moment before it's mouth slowly spread into a large smile, then disappeared.
