A few hours later, Zerka reappeared from the surgery room. “How is he Zerka?” Talon asked. Luna was still hugging Lily trying to calm down. “Well… We have done all we can. His condition is stable, and he suffered a lot less damage than we initially thought, but there is one huge injury that could severely impact the rest of his life…” Zerka explained, and beckoned everyone through to where I was.

Luna saw me laying in the hospital bed and ran over beside me. She kissed my lips, but as I was unconscious, I made no response. “Poor Tesla…” she sobbed as the others came around. “What happened to his heart?” Xeron said, noticing the strange machine there instead of my heart.

“That is a Neodymium Powered Heart Battery. The cannonball completely ruptured Tesla’s heart, so we had to replace it. His ribcage took the majority of the impact, and he suffered 11 broken ribs. They were easy to fix by comparison.” Luna sat by me and stroked my cheek. “I can’t lose him now…” She sobbed. Talon was getting noticeably angrier. “This could have been avoided if I had double checked the cannon… Hyun! Go check the ammo storage area!” He bellowed. Hyun smiled. “On it!” He said, before disappearing in a manner very similar to Xeron. Lily looked at Talon. "Do you think that someone tampered with the ammo?" She asked him, trying not to cry. Talon growled. "It's a possibility... If someone on this base wants Tesla dead, we need to find out as soon as possible." He said.

“Tesla’s anesthetic will wear off in an hour or so, but If he hasn’t woken up within 48 hours, we can assume he is gone…” Zerka said sadly. Lily sniffed. “He saved Luna… Knowing full well he could die…” She said, tears dripping down her face. “If he does wake up, we need to thank him…” Xeron said, welling up. “What do you reckon Talon? Has he earned an MOV?” Tyson said to him. Talon nodded. “Definitely.” He replied. “Whats an MOV?” Luna asked, tears flowing down her face. “The Medal Of Valour. It is the highest accolade we can bestow upon a Pokemon.” Talon explained.

Luna hugged me tight. “What if he never wakes up?” She sobbed. Talon put his hand on her shoulder. “We just have to hope he pulls through. I don’t think he wants to leave you alone does he?” He smiled, before leaving with everyone except Luna. She stayed beside me, hoping to be the first one to see me awake. She held my paw in her hands and laid her head on my chest. 

I looked around to find a small field. A single tree grew near the edge. I looked over the edge and found nothing. Just an abyss, that seemed to go on forever. “I better not trip…” I said to myself. “Where the hell am I?” I said to no-one in particular. “Oh Arceus… Please don’t tell me I’m dead…” I said, realising I may have been killed by that cannonball. “You aren’t dead young Tesla… You are merely asleep…” Came a voice from nowhere.

I looked for whoever spoke. “Who is there?” I gulped. “Show yourself?!” I yelled. With that, a Gardevoir materialised in front of me. She was very clearly a female. I smiled. She didn’t seem hostile. “Who are you?” I asked her. “My name is Kayla. I mean you no harm.” She smiled. “Very well. Where am I?” I responded. “You are inside your own head. In the Field of Dreams.” She added, before sitting down. “How can you talk to me then?” I said, sitting in front of her. “Because I am the Goddess of Life. This is merely the form I appear as to Pokemon.”

I smiled. “Well… I certainly wasn’t expecting that.” I laughed. “And I am very happy you have befriended my daughter. She seems to have taken a real shine to you. And I can see why.” She continued. I blushed. “Pardon!?” I said rather quickly. Kayla smiled. “Luna. I am Luna’s mother.”

I looked confused. “How is that even possible?” I asked. Kayla grinned. “I will explain everything in time Tesla. First I must ask you a question. Have you ever heard Luna sing?” I shook my head. “No…” Kayla used her psychic powers to activate my hearing. “Luna is singing to you right now. Listen…” She said. Suddenly, I could hear Luna’s voice clearly. She was singing beautifully:

I was tearing up just listening to her amazing voice. “Wow… She’s… It’s so beautiful…” I said, wiping a tear away. Kayla nodded. “She is my pride and joy. Make sure you take care of her Tesla.” She said. I nodded. “I will treasure her always.” I said. “Thank you Tesla. You will wake up now. Please don’t mention me to Luna yet. For now, keep me a secret.” Kayla added, before disappearing.

I opened my eyes to find Luna sobbing into my chest. “Ugh… L-Luna?” I said weakly. Luna looked at me and smiled. “You’re okay!” She cheered, and kissed me all over my face. I blushed and everyone else came in. “Tesla! You’re okay! I’m so glad!” Lily exclaimed, tearing up. “Thank Arceus you’re home… We wouldn’t have been the same without you dude.” Xeron smiled and gave me a hug. “Give him some space guys! Hehehe…. It’s great that you are still with us though Tesla.” Talon said as he came in. “Thanks guys… But is it okay if I go have a nap before we get down to any work? I’m exhausted.” I said, yawning. “That’s probably because of the anesthetic, Tesla.” Zerka said, smiling. “Also, your body is still getting used to your new heart.” He added. I looked down and saw the machine in my chest. “Aah. I guess I can’t take a cannonball to the chest and come out unscathed eh? Hehehe…” I joked, before yawning again. “Come on Tesla… I’ll take you back to our room…” Luna smiled as she helped me up. “See ya later guys…” I said. They all said goodbye and went off to train, while Luna took me back to my bed.
