Delta's Story by delta

A New Beginning

Hi, me again. Thought you might like to hear a little more of my story. Now, where did I leave off...oh right, the first night of my new life.

Well, with my family gone, I had nowhere else to go, so I accepted Peter's offer and decided to stay with them.

I woke up the next morning, feeling refreshed, but still depressed. We buried my mother that morning. I walked over to Peter who had just finished covering her grave. He turned around and patted me on the head, giving me the same look as the night before. I had thought of his offer to stay with him, his brother, Ryan, and their friend Greg. I figured since I had nowhere to turn, I would stay and live with them.

"Hey, Delta, what's up?", Peter asked me.

"Um, well, I think I'll stay here with you guys.", I replied nervously.

"OK, I'll let the others know. I'm sure they'll be glad to hear you want to stay with us.", he said with a broad grin on his face, and he walked off to tell the others.

I sat there for a moment before walking back into the cave. I laid down in the same spot I had the night before. Greg walked into the cave a few minutes later. He looked at me for a moment before he came over to me.

"Hey, Delta. You hungry?", he asked.

I just stared at him. Still remembering the last Growlithe I had encountered, I didn't feel I could trust him.

"Hmm...You feeling OK?", he inquired, with a look of concern coming across his face. Again, I just stared at him.

"You don't trust me, do you? I know your family was torn apart by my kind, but you have to understand not all of us are the same. I don't expect you to believe me, but would you give me a chance? Now, I'll ask you again, are you hungry?"

My stomach answered for me this time. He could no doubt hear it. He smiled at me and ran back out of the cave. He returned shortly after, along with Ryan and Peter this time. We all ate our breakfast, and afterwards, I decided to go look around the place I would be calling home.

I slowly walked out of the cave, letting my eyes readjust to the sun's light. I began to explore the area, but I came across something I had never seen before, a barrier of some kind. I walked along it until I came across another one. I heard footsteps behind me, and turned around to see a pretty big pokemon behind me. I looked up to see his face bearing down on me. It was a Rhydon. I slowly backed up, but had nowhere to go, the barrier blocking me. I looked up at him with terror in my eyes.

"Well, what have we here? A little lonely Eevee.", he said, still looking down at me. I stood there, terrified to even move.

"Leave him alone, Drew!" a voice yelled over. I looked to see Ryan running over towards us. The Rhydon turned around to see who said those words. He looked down at the Raichu, a menacing look on his face.

"Ryan, are you sure you want to stand up to me after what happened last time? If I recall, you were nearly paralyzed because of it. You're lucky you have your little brother there to take care of you, heh heh."

"Enough. Leave the kid alone, alright.", Ryan said, looking up at the gargantuan of a pokemon.

"You really want to fight me again, don't you? Alright, have it your way."

Drew charged at Ryan, who was quick enough to jump out of the way of the attack. "Look, I don't want to fight you. I just want you to leave him alone."

"And why should I do that?", Drew retorted.

"The kid's had a hard enough time as is. If you must know, he was orphaned last night.", Ryan said.

"Oh, well, I suppose I can give him a couple days, but you on the other hand..."

Drew charged at Ryan once again. Ryan, definitely not in a good mood after that conversation, could take no more. He dove to the side, avoiding Drew's attack. Knowing he could only use brute force on this beast, he prepared himself for the worst. He leapt onto Drew's back and began pummeling him from above and behind. The Rhydon reached back, grabbed Ryan's long tail, and whipped him off his back. Still holding his tail, he swung him in the air above his head, throwing the rodent several feet through the air, landing painfully on the ground. Drew, wasting no time ran at him and swept his massive claws across Ryan's body. The Raichu screaming in pain from this fresh attack.

"Give up, rat? Or would you like some more?", Drew said, gloating over his victory.

Ryan struggling to his paws, holding his wounds as though his flesh would fall off if he didn't, just stared furiously at the monster of a pokemon before turning around and walking back towards the cave. Drew just laughed at him. "Did you think you could really defeat me?"

Seeing what had just happened, I ran after Ryan. He limped his way back to the cave, collapsing once inside. I didn't know what to do. I ran back outside to find Peter. I saw him off in the distance near something else I'd never seen before, a structure of some kind, but I wasn't worried about that. I ran over to him to let him know what happened. He looked over to see me rushing to him.

"Whoa, Delta, what's wrong?", he asked.

"I was looking around outside when a big pokemon came up to me. I think his name was Drew. Anyways he was coming at me, and Ryan showed up to stop him, but Drew attacked him and now he's hurt.", I replied, gasping for air.

"Where is he now?"

"Back at the cave."

Peter dashed inside the building, and came back out with a box. He then ran as fast as he could while still holding it back to the cave, me following at his heels. We arrived back at the cave to see Ryan still lying on his side in a small pool of his own blood. Peter ran over to him and rolled him onto his back. He opened the box he'd been carrying and pulled something out and began to wipe it on Ryan's wounds. Ryan was obviously in pain from this treatment, I could see him clenching his teeth. After Peter finished cleaning Ryan's injuries, he pulled another thing out of the box. It looked like a small tube with something wrapped around it. He sat Ryan up and began wrapping the fabric around his midsection until the wounds were covered, tearing it with his teeth when he finished and tied the two ends together to hold it in place. He put the roll back in the box and closed it, setting it aside.

Ryan laid back down. He looked over at Peter. "Thanks, bro.", he said.

"You should be thanking our little friend here, he told me what happened to you. Were it not for him, you could have been even worse off.", Peter said, smiling as he pointed at me.

"Well then, thanks Delta, I owe you one.", he said to me.

"You're welcome. I didn't want to see what happened to me happen again to someone else.", I said back.

Later that night, everyone in the cave was asleep except for Ryan and me. He yawned, and looked over to see me lying on the cold stone near him. "Thanks again, Delta. Good night.", he said before drifting off to sleep.

"Good night, Ryan", I said before I too fell asleep.

Well, there you have it, my first day living with them. You could say it wasn't the best new beginning, but it's what I got.

It's getting late now, so I'm going to have to say good night. Perhaps I can continue my story again tomorrow.
