The Plane of Death

The Plane of Death

He watched as she obliterated both of them, the two that had brought so much suffering to her life. He was trying to keep calm, easier said then done though, since he had three large gashes in his side. He smiled as she turned, looking at him, fear plain in her eyes, fear for his life. As much as he wanted to tell her he'd be okay, he knew that it'd be a lie. "Inferno!" she cried, rushing toward him.

He was still smiling up at her, "Great work," talking was already getting difficult, "With just the right amount of flash. Heh." He coughed, his breathing becoming shallow. "You've learned a lot since the last time you did something like this on your own. Remember?"

He hated seeing her cry, "Don't go."

He didn't want to tell her that he had no choice, "You took down that old leader of the mightyena. It was just a quick cut, but he died." His vision was fading, "It was just so plain. I would have done it with a bit," he coughed twice more, barely able to keep the blood down, "a bit more flash." He raised his head to lick her cheek.

She began nuzzleing him, but he could barely feel it, his body going numb, "Please....please Inferno, don't go." Her plea was like a dagger, "Don't leave me!"

He gave her another lick, "I'm sorry Sky. But that's the one thing I can't do for you. I wish I could," god how he wished he could, "But I don't think fate will allow that." he coughed once more, his crimson blood shooting from his mouth.

She began licking him, kissing him, he was going to miss it so much, "Inferno! Please! I need you!"

He tried to fake a smile, "I'm so sorry Sky. I love you," he let out another bloody cough, "...my beautiful mate."

Her eyes were aflood with tears, "I love you too," she paused, "my handsome beloved."

He kissed her, then his head lost the last of it's strength. As he came closer to death, he could feel everything around him, of particular note were their friends, "I can feel the others. They're coming here." he wished he could say good-bye to them, "Tell them I was grateful for their company."

She brought her head to his, "Tell them yourself, please!"

He tried to sigh, but could only cough up more blood. "I wish I could." His eyes were closing, but he managed to keep them open when she screamed his name. He looked at her, her sorrow was painful to see, "Sky, please, smile for me." his voice was all but gone. She got down, and smiled at him, but it looked so sad to him. He stilled smiled back, using the last of his strength, "Thanks." his eyes shut, his world went black, as her scream of agony ripped through the area.

Inferno looked around the place where he awoke. It was completely white, void of anything and everything. He looked at his side, he still had the three large gashes along it. He sighed, "So I'm dead. Oh well, at least Sky's o.....alive."

"Nice save, cause she definatly isn't okay."

Inferno whirled about, unsure of what he would see in this oblivion. What he saw was a female houndoom, and his eyes went wide, "M...mom?"

The other houndoom smiled, "Look at how much you've grown." she took a step closer, he took a step back, his gaze drifting downward, "What's wrong? You too old to give your mother a greeting?"

"I...I'm sorry."

She looked at him confused, "What for?"

He couldn't bear to raise his gaze, "I..I couldn't....save you."

She shook her head, "You couldn't. You were so young, but did that stop you from trying? No. You still tried to get him, no matter whether or not you were successful, you tried."

"But I let you die!"

She closed the distance between them, gently nuzzling him, "No you didn't. You tried, but Sarak was too much for you then."

"But..."

She licked his forehead, "No buts. You did everything you could, you kept trying when any one else would have given up and ran." She was smiling at him again.

"But I failed you...I couldn't be anything like you wanted me to be."

"Of course not, you could only be what you are." She nuzzled him some more, "And you're my son, my precious little boy, who still strove to do what was right. I'm proud of you."

He looked at her, his eyes filled with tears and defiance, "How!? How can you be proud of me!? I was no gaurdian! I wasn't some pinnicle of our race! I was nothing!!! Damn it all why don't you hate me!?"

She waited for him to calm down, then began to gently nuzzle him again, "Aren't you a gaurdian? Haven't you saved your friends on more than one occasion? Aren't you what every houndour would strive to be, strong, fast, kind, gentle, and righteous? How can I hate my own son? My son, who loved me with all his heart, and who I loved just as much. Inferno, you haven't changed at all you know? Your still the kind, gentle pup I gave birth to. Even when you thought you couldn't protect anyone, you found that absol, Sky. Now look, you've protected her, saved her, you gave your life for her." She was smiling at him, "Inferno, I couldn't be more proud of you then I am now. Despite all that happened to you, you're still you." She licked his forehead again, "Remember what I told you as we walked to gather food?"

He nodded, "You said how proud you were of me, how I could see what was right and what was wrong. You told me I should never forget who I am deep down."

"And to that you said 'Never!'"

He nodded, "Mom?"

She was still smiling, "Yeah?"

"I...love you." he began to nuzzle her back.

"I love you too."

"Thank you mommy."

She chuckled, "Your welcom, sonny." She snapped at his flank, getting an irritated growl from him, "Now don't take that tone with me young man! I'm still your mother after all."

"Bah!"

"Ha ha ha! Still a little ball of disrespect. I honestly don't know how you're his mother." Inferno turned and saw Flanno, standing right there, a smile on his beak. "Nice to see you again pup, only I regret it was so soon."

Inferno groaned, "No. Please don't tell me I have to deal with that decrepit old bag of bones for the rest of eternity."

Flanno and Inferno's mother broke out into a laugh. Flanno managed to recover after a while, "Nice to see death hasn't dampened your spirits."

Inferno shrugged, "It probably hasn't really sunk in yet."

"Nor will it!" The voice came from no where, Inferno's head was darting everywhere to find the source. His mother and Flanno were also looking for the source, "Dreadful darkness, hear my call. Bring this world, to it's fall." All of a sudden Inferno was engulfed in a black mist, that slowly began choking him, "Let the creature that perished here. Live again and reappear." Inferno blacked out.

**********************

He slowly rose, his legs were weak, his head was spinning, "Rise Inferno."

He looked up, the thing he saw was big, humanoid in shape, carrying a big scythe, "Who?"

The thing smiled, "Inferno, that is your name."

"Inferno? My name?"

The 'man', for lack of a better term, nodded, "Yes, you are Inferno, one of the most powerful beings in existence." He heard some muttering behind him, turning to see a large collection of people, and pokemon. A few were interesing, such as the mightyena with tentacles coming from his sides, and the arbok, that familiar arbok, with claws and wings. Inferno's attention snapped back to the 'man', "Who are you?"

He smiled, "I am called Orochi. I'm the only one who surpasses you in pure strength. I'm a demon, the lord of snakes and evil incarnate. You were slain, but I brought you back."

"Slain? By who?"

"By fools who thought they controlled their fate." Orochi smiled, "You served me well before, but unfortunatly it appears the resurrection process wiped those memories clean. It's of no matter though. Now my loyal warrior, we have things to do."

Inferno shook his body, getting rid of the kinks in his neck, "Very well my lord. How can I be servise?"
